ANGUS FEMALES

For more than 30 years we have devoted ourselves to acquire most of the influential- and champion cow families in South Africa!

THE GOLDEN GIRL COW LINE

The Golden Girls have been around for more than 60 years in SA! This cow originated in Beckton, USA, but only fully reached her potential when Oom Jan Vosloo bred the Girlies and the Golden Girls from this line.
At Loumotta we really battled to get this line in our stud.  We bought embryos of the JAN495-cow, which in my view was the best of the Golden Girls. We bred animals like Loumotta Gold Digger (used as a stud bull for many years) and Loumotta Golden Girl (SA Reserve Grand Champion) out of 495. They were produced in a flushing done with Equalizer.

The Girlies came from the SA Reserve Grand Champion, Anvos Girly 707.  She was a Leachman On Target daughter.  Her mother was a Elslie Victory daughter, JAN 377.  We flushed Anvos Girly 707 (with Kobus Delport) and got two daughters, one of whom already has won her class at the National Championship. 442 one of our top 707 embryo daughters was also flushed by ourselves as well as in partnership with Bona Bona Angus. We used one of 442's sons, Loumotta Iron Man, with great success!

THE GAZELLA COW LINE

RCRA Gazella 4044, a daughter of Gazella 306, sired by RED BRA REDWHEEL 33T, was imported by the late oom Lieb du Preez in the 80's. RCRA Gazella 4044 produced her first calf in SA in the year 1990. RCRA Gazella 4044 currently has a milk figure of +17.4, that ranks her in the top 1% of the breed.
On the 17th of April 1998 a Leachman None Better daughter was born out of 4044, she was to be known as Tarzan Gazella 801. Gazella 801 was probably one of the most prolific of Angus females in the Red Angus industry in South Africa, and became the matriach to many Gazellas!
Tarzan Gazella 801:
Gazella 801 was flushed numerous times, with about 11 different bulls! These embryo calves make up most of the 57 registered direct progeny of 801. We(Loumotta) had the privilege of owning Gazella 801 for about two years, after which we sold her. We bought her at oom Lieb's sale in 2004. The footnote written by oom Lieb in the sale catalogue read: "One breeds such a cow only once in a lifetime". Needless to say she was the most expensive animal of the day! By the time we were done with her she had already been flushed 5 times and produced 100 embryos, 90% of them grade 1's!
Here's a short list of what Gazella 801 has bred:
Tarzan Heavenly 49- used by not less than six breeders.
Loumotta Major League – bought by Copelands, Holvlei and Nicelle Angus for R100 000.
Loumotta Major Man – bought by Gert Malherbe and Supa van Rooyen. One of Major Man's daughters holds the record for the highest priced heifer at R90 000 at the Angus Alliance Sale.  Major Man’s bulls also got the highest prices at the 2010 National Sale. He also sired the 2015 National Grand Champion female, Vansia Robin.
Loumotta Mister League – used as stud bull by Enslin Coetzee.
Loumotta Tuffy, also used as a stud bull in our herd.
Loumotta Major – exported to Namibia by Mr. Walter Dentlinger.
Loumotta Shalbert – bought at the Angus Alliance Sale by Jacat Stud (Namibia).
Loumotta Equalizer – gold merit bull, that is still being used in our stud's AI-program. He is also the sire to Loumotta Golden Girl, Reserve National Champion, and the grandsire to Loumotta John-Deere, the Grand Champion bull at the 2017 Centenary National show in Bloem, and current SA Recordholder.
Loumotta Gazella, AC 06 178, she is also an embryo donor, that was flushed various times(She was also an embryo herself), by ourselves as well as in partnerships. We used 3 of her sons in our herd! We sold her oldest son Loumotta Mojo to Bona Bona Angus a while ago. Her full sister AC 06 175 was also flushed in the past, and we kept all of her direct daughters in our herd!
801's best-known daughter, Loumotta Gazella Robin, which was owned by Mr. Flippie du Plessis, won the Gold Cup at Morreesburg in 2009.

THE QUEEN COW LINE

The Queen cowline traces all the way back to the 1988 National Champion Female - Marsh Moor Princess. Princess was well known for her width, depth and enormous capacity. Her Granddam was a cow imported pregnant of Dynamo 614 from the Leachman herd in America, Leachman Spencer Queen 3642, this mating ended up creating Marsh Moor Spencer Princess(Princess' dam). Around that time Charles Pope also imported a bull named, Leachman Live-on 6028. He used 6028 on Princess, and the product of this combination was Marsh Moor Queen.
Queen followed in her mother's footsteps and became a Reserve National Champion. Queen's full brother Marsh Moor Lonestar was the National Junior Champion at the same show. This was the beginning of the Lonestar line that went on to breed numerous champions.
It took us a while, but we managed to purchase a direct daughter to Queen, out of Leachman Front Runner. She gave us two Anvos Calvin daughters.
Loumotta .50 Caliber is the combination of an intentional line breeding done to Queen. In 2019 he was the Junior- and Grand Champion bull at Vryburg, and his dam ,Loumotta Queen 790 , was the Senior- and Grand Champion female at the same show!

THE LASSIE COW LINE

The first Lassie female in the Loumotta herd, 94 11, was a Leachman Heavenly daughter out of Emulous 002. This cow family has bred some of our top stud bulls through the years like Loumotta TJ, JR Ewing, etc.

In SA there are two separate Lassie cow families:

The first is the Red Angus Lassie cow line which is the one referred to above.

The second is the Black Angus Lassie cow line that oringated at Mequatling Angus. Flippie du Plessis of Flipsta Angus also won the National Grand Championship with a daughter out of this line a few years back, Flipsta Grid Lassie. We have also recently acquired the Black Lassie cowline by purchasing a daughter of the National Champ, Grid Lassie, sired by Loumotta Red Blood.

THE LADY AND RED LADY COW LINE

LVR 503 was the start of the Lady cowfamily. She was a EXT daughter out of Wally Sharrat's best cow, Sky Athena, a SA Champion and Gold Cup winner. We bought 503 as a 8 month old heifer and sold her as a 11 year old cow on a previous Alliance sale for R200 000 to Mark Hatting of Australia. At that time she was the no.1 yearling weight, no. 1 combined maternal and no. 3 weaning weight Black Angus cow in SA. She had an average weaning index of 119 which placed her right at the top of the breed!

503 is also the dam to Loumotta Hulk, and one of her daughters, AC 06 168, is one of our top embryo donors, and flushed 18 grade one embryos!

As a first calf heifer 168 also weaned her red Above Heaven daughter at 341kg with a index of 123!

THE RED ROSE COW LINE

There are three seperate Rose cow families in South Africa that I know of: The first is the Anvos Red Rose cow family that has bred individuals like Lofty (SA Junior Champ) and Roechama Sure ( SA Champ).

The second is the Mequatling Rose cow famliy.

The third is the Loumotta Red Rose cow family. This cow family originated out of JMS 379. 379 is a daughter of Elslie Red Victory (a SA Junior Champion and Gold Cup-winner).  379 will always be remembered for her perfect udder.  She bred well-known animals, such as Loumotta Frans, SA Junior and Grand Champion Bull.  Her daughter, Loumotta Rose was SA Grand Champion in 2006 and was sold for R100 000 to Christoff Nel.  379 was also flushed in the past.

The female pictured is Loumotta Rose.

THE MISS MAY COWLINE

The cow pictured is Eternal Spring the matriarch to the Miss May cow family. She is a daughter of the 2004 National Champion Momentum Follow Up out of HR 98 85. Eternal Spring won the 2017 Landbouweekblad/Stambook Elite Platinum award!

THE SONJA COWLINE

Vansia Sonja 761 was the start of our Sonja cow family.  761 was SA Champion Cow.  And this wasn’t a one time-deal!  Her brothers include Vansia 875, which was used as stud bull in the Vansia herd, Anvos Gambler, a Major League son which was used in the Anvos stud as her well-known sister Sonja 1537, which was also a Junior Champion and Gold Cup-winner.  We bought 761 in partnership with Kobus Delport.  We flushed her and got very good progeny to carry on the line.

THE 310 LADY COW LINE

This cow line traces all the way back to the past National Champion Magna! Loumotta Lady 310 was probably one of our best daughters out of this line, she is sired by Loumotta Buster. We have kept numerous daughters out of 310 to use in our breeding program, and her daughter sired by Loumotta Iron Man, Lady 40, is the dam to the highest priced Black bull of the 2020 Alliance Sale that to Scott KIng. This line has no relations to the 503 cow line.

THE JEWEL AND RED JEWEL COW LINE

This line traces back to the 2005 Supreme Beef Champion, Jewel 988. The Jewels is in my opinion one of the best Black Angus cow lines out there! For us at Loumotta Jewel 10 688 takes the cream of the Jewel crop, what makes her so special is the fact that she has cow families like Golden Girl 495, Gazella 801 and Rose weaved into her pedigree! Jewel 688 is the dam to Loumotta John Deere, Grand Champion at the 2017 Centenary National Championships held in Bloem. He also sold for a record price of R255 000 to RC Malerbe at the Sale of Champions held after the show!

We flushed 688 in recent times, and you will sure to find some of her progeny in our future showstring!

JHK RED CHINA GIRL AND THE DEMI COW LINE

HK Red China Girl.  Another of the foundation cows in the Loumotta stud.  We bought her as a year old heifer.  Her father was a Leachman Current Value and she was imported in her mother, Leachman Star.  She didn’t disappoint!  Her two best daughters was Loumotta Chania, an SA Champion and daughter of Hijlettas Solid Gold (Solid Gold was also brother to Hijlettas PJ Miss Larcab) and Loumotta Demi, a Bieber Design daughter and SA Reserve Senior Champion Cow.

THE JANE COW LINE

Jane 00-614 was the start of our Jane cow line. For more than two consecutive years in the past 614 was the best maternal cow in the country (Black and Red) at +22.6 for milk.  She is a Leachman Above Heaven daughter.  In 2008, Mr. Leon van Rooyen gave her one look and took her home.  Luckily we do have daughters and sisters of her on the farm.  One of her daughters, Jane 5, weaned her first calf at 292kg at an index of 118.  Her second calf weaned at 342kg and an index of 112!  Another Jane-daughter, 897, bred the stud bull Loumotta Sugar, weaned at 360kg!  All of these weights were achieved without any creep feed, although we did have some good veld the last few years. Sugar was the 2011 Gold Cup Winner and National Champion.

THE LARCABA COW FAMILY

The Larcaba cow family traces back as far as the 1940's. They are one of our foundation cow lines, and have bred studbulls like Loumotta Conan.

Royal%20Skou%202013%20011_edited.jpg

THE LADY JULIA COW LINE

The Lady Julias is one of the rarest cow families to get you hands on. We have shown females out of this line in the past on National and Regional level with great success!

IMG_20190714_123458.jpg

THE AMY COW LINE

This one of our foundation cow families. We really enjoy the stout calves that this cow line produces each year. The Amy cow line has produced stud bulls like Loumotta Julian (sold to MJ Ernst of Bona Bona Angus at the 2019 Alliance Sale)

IMG_20190714_124646_edited.jpg

THE FIONA COW LINE

This probably one of our oldest cow families! The first Fiona was a Heavenly daughter out of 998!

screen-1.jpg

THE MINERVINA COW LINE

The Minervinas is one of the oldest Red Angus cow families! The original Minervina was the 75th animal to be registered into the American Red Angus database!
